Justin Sun to Soar into Space with Jeff Bezos Blue Origin Mission

The private aerospace company Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, has unveiled the crew list for the upcoming spaceflight on the New Shepard rocket. Among the participants is Justin Sun, the founder of TRON.

In 2021, the cryptocurrency entrepreneur won an auction by bidding $28 million for a spot on the first crewed flight of New Shepard. The funds raised were donated to the Club for the Future foundation, which supports 19 charitable organizations focused on technical education.

However, in March 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against Sun, accusing him of an unregistered securities offering involving TRON and BitTorrent tokens. In April, Sun was summoned to court but did not attend, believing the allegations to be unfounded.

In February 2025, both Sun and the SEC jointly filed a motion in court to pause the litigation in search of a resolution. By June, the TRON blockchain project announced its plans to enter the U.S. market.

Sun will be part of a six-member crew that includes a real estate investor, an entrepreneur, a meteorologist, a venture capitalist, and a participant from a previous New Shepard flight.

«I’m the youngest commercial astronaut,» Sun announced on X.

Initially, it was expected that Sun would select five companions from the TRON DAO community. However, a representative later informed Cointelegraph that the entrepreneur did not create an attendee list for the mission.

This mission will mark Blue Origin’s 34th crewed flight, with a live stream of the launch available on the company’s website. The exact date has not yet been announced.

Members of the cryptocurrency community have responded positively to the news of Sun’s space journey.

«From leading positions in the blockchain world and building infrastructure for stablecoins and DeFi, TRON is making a new strategic leap into the aerospace sector. This initiative aligns perfectly with TRON’s mission to develop digital infrastructure even beyond Earth,» commented one user.

Some anticipate that this event could positively influence the momentum of TRX. However, the announcement has so far had no impact on the asset.

According to CoinGecko, the native token of the TRON ecosystem has fallen by 1% in the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, the coin is trading at $0.31, according to TradingView.

It’s worth noting that on July 10, Justin Sun acquired TRUMP tokens associated with U.S. President Donald Trump for $100 million.
