Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev has responded to comments made by New Zealander Dan Hooker, who shared his thoughts on Makhachev’s upcoming matchup against Jack Della Maddalena for the welterweight title.

“I need new haters—my old ones are starting to love me,” Makhachev posted on his social media account.

Previously, Dan Hooker, speaking on Sky Sports New Zealand, expressed his respect for Makhachev for deciding to move up to welterweight to face Jack Della Maddalena. The fight is scheduled for November 16 and will take place at UFC 322 in New York (USA).
