Intel Unveils Groundbreaking XeSS 3 with Frame Generation Technology

Intel has officially announced the latest version of its upscaling technology, called XeSS 3, which will introduce Multi-Frame Generation support. This feature operates similarly to the DLSS 4 counterpart from NVIDIA, utilizing artificial intelligence to generate intermediate frames, enhancing image smoothness and frames per second (fps). The launch of Intel XeSS 3 is anticipated in 2026.

The new version of XeSS will offer options for 2x, 3x, and 4x modes, allowing users to achieve improved performance. However, it is important to note that a baseline framerate of at least 45 frames per second is required for optimal functionality.

One of the appealing aspects of this technology is its compatibility with graphics cards from other manufacturers. Additionally, XeSS 3 will maintain backwards compatibility with XeSS 2, allowing owners of Intel graphics cards to activate the new system using a special parameter called XeSS 3 MFG Override. This feature will enable Multi-Frame Generation even in games that only support the previous version of the technology.

For users with non-Intel graphics cards, they will need to rely on either native support for XeSS 3 in games or on modifications. Nonetheless, anyone interested will still have the opportunity to experience frame generation, albeit with some limitations.
