Indian Railways Unveils RailOne: The All-in-One Superapp Transforming Ticketing and Train Services

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Railways unveiled the new RailOne application, an initiative introduced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This superapp is designed to be an all-in-one platform that combines the various public services offered by the ministry, including the ability to book reserved tickets, check PNR status, request ticket refunds, and order food while traveling. The RailOne app is accessible on both Android and iOS operating systems and represents the complete version of the SwaRail app that was initially launched in beta form back in February.

Features of the RailOne Superapp

The RailOne superapp was created by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store for Android and iOS users, respectively. While there are several specialized apps under the Indian Railways banner, this new superapp consolidates all these services into a single platform.

With the RailOne app, users have the ability to purchase reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets. They can also inquire about freight and parcel deliveries, monitor their PNR status, and confirm the coach location at specific railway stations.

The superapp additionally provides real-time tracking of trains, offering users live updates on estimated arrival times, possible delays, and other essential information. This feature ensures that travelers stay informed and can plan their journeys more effectively, according to the Ministry of Railways.

The app also grants users access to ‘Rail Madad’, allowing them to register and monitor complaints for swift resolution, as well as submit feedback regarding Indian Railways. Furthermore, users can order food through the RailOne superapp from partnered vendors during their journey.

Besides facilitating ticket bookings, RailOne also permits users to claim refunds for cancelled or missed journeys directly through the app. It features the R-Wallet, a digital wallet that simplifies payments for services accessed via the app.

According to the ministry, the app supports multiple languages and allows users to log in using a single sign-on (SSO) system. This means that credentials from RailOne can be utilized to access other applications such as IRCTC RailConnect and UTS Mobile App. Users can authenticate their login using different methods, including biometric verification or m-PIN.
