Inactive Bitcoin Whales Mobilize: 40,192 BTC Transferred by Early Holder

A wallet connected to an active «early» whale transferred 40,192 BTC to a new address, with the transaction amounting to $4.77 billion, according to Arkham.

On July 4, the owner of the first cryptocurrency showcased activity for the first time since 2011 by distributing 80,000 BTC across eight new addresses.

Approximately half of this sum was sent on July 15 to two wallets that analysts linked to Galaxy Digital.

The remaining 40,192 BTC were likely consolidated into a single new wallet. These funds originated from four addresses where they were initially distributed on July 4. The transfer was preceded by two test transactions of 1 BTC each.

Analysts from Lookonchain speculated that the initial batch of coins was being prepared for sale through the over-the-counter service at Galaxy Digital.

*“If further transactions from the new address are also directed to entities like Galaxy Digital, it may indicate that the whale will continue to sell,” experts noted.*

The movement of funds has sparked debates regarding the identity of the owner. Some speculations pointed to Roger Ver, the CIA, and even Satoshi Nakamoto.

It’s worth mentioning that from January to March, around 62,800 BTC that had remained inactive for more than seven years «awoke» and changed wallets, according to CryptoQuant.
