Huaweis Bold Leap: Introducing the Pura X – A 16:10 Foldable Phone with Unconventional Charm and AI Innovation

Due to trade restrictions that will hinder the launch of Huawei’s new foldable in the US, many enthusiasts of the device may never see it in person. Nevertheless, you might find this peculiar gadget worth a glance.

The Pura X could arguably come with a “wide load” advisory that displays on the back when it’s unfolded. According to CNBC, the device features a 6.3-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This means it offers a wider, more tablet-like appearance compared to typical smartphones. While not as unconventional as Huawei’s (admittedly impressive) tri-fold Mate XT, it still has a unique flair. When folded, the Pura X transforms into a square with a 3.5-inch display that presents the rear camera setup on the front.

This smartphone, priced starting at 7,499 Chinese yuan (approximately $1,037), distinguishes itself for additional reasons. The Pura X marks the first Huawei smartphone devoid of any Android elements. It operates on a variant of HarmonyOS that the company unveiled in November. Additionally, it incorporates Xiaoyi, an AI assistant developed in-house that utilizes DeepSeek’s technology to enhance Huawei’s proprietary Pangu model.
