Heart Machine Faces Further Layoffs Ahead of New Game Launch

A couple of weeks ago, the independent studio **Heart Machine** experienced a round of layoffs, attributed to the lackluster performance of the early version of **Hyper Light Breaker**. Unfortunately, the troubles haven’t stopped there, as by the end of the month, more employees were affected by job cuts.

This time, the studio’s management refrained from making any comments, and details emerged through social media from various developers. Here’s how former community and PR manager **Yiyi Zhang** responded to the situation:

It seems the future of the team is closely tied to the success of their side-scroller **Possessor(s)**, which will launch on November 11 for PC ([Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2132890/Possessors/)) and PlayStation 5, complete with a Russian text localization. In the meantime, the studio has promised to release the final content update for **Hyper Light Breaker** in January.
