Gurbanberdieva Shares Insights on the New Rules in Synchronized Swimming

Three-time world champion synchronized swimmer **[Maya Gurbanberdieva]()** shared her thoughts on the new rules in synchronized swimming.

«This is a completely new sport. Everything has changed. Now we can be compared to figure skating in some ways; during broadcasts, we now have a sidebar showing elements and indicators of whether the athlete completed the skill or not.

«I came across a joke once saying it’s like little lights. Well, that’s one way to put it. The main thing is to have everything light up in green. This adds more clarity for viewers about what is happening in our routines. However, spectators were accustomed to a specific type of synchronized swimming, and now they’re witnessing something entirely different, which causes some confusion. Audiences are still adjusting to this new format. Nevertheless, despite these new regulations, we owe a great deal to our coach. Thanks to her choreography, we can stand out even within these strict guidelines. That’s important and wonderful,» Gurbanberdieva told Championship correspondent Rustam Imamov.
