Google Unveils AI Mode for Custom Clothing Generation and Online Shopping Enhancements

Google has unveiled a new feature called AI Mode, designed for online shopping using artificial intelligence. This innovation allows users to generate clothing and home decor items based on descriptions. It aims to assist shoppers not only in determining whether an item suits them but also in finding similar products available for purchase online.

AI Mode is set to launch this fall, initially only in the United States. It is expected to provide better product recommendations than traditional text queries. For instance, a user could describe an evening gown, and the AI would produce a selection of the best matches. Google would then present a list of actual dresses available for purchase that resemble the AI-generated design.

Additionally, a virtual try-on tool has been introduced in the U.S., allowing users to upload a full-length photograph of themselves to see how selected clothing items would look on them. This virtual fitting experience is accessible through search results, Google Shopping, and Pictures, having previously undergone limited testing in Search Labs.
