Google Search Unveils Dynamic AI-Powered Data Visualization Tool for Smarter Financial Analysis

On Friday, Google introduced a new capability to AI Mode, the artificial intelligence (AI) search interface within Google Search. This addition allows for the creation of interactive graphs and charts that effectively visualize data, making it simpler for users to grasp data trends. The technology firm based in Mountain View noted that this feature could be especially beneficial for those examining financial information. The AI algorithms powering this feature can identify specific data points over time and represent them graphically.

New Data Visualization Feature in AI Mode

In a blog post, the tech giant elaborated on the new capability. Currently, this functionality is exclusively reachable through Google Labs and is available in a preview format. Users in the United States can access Labs and enable the feature from there. Google indicated that the data visualization capability aims to assist users with inquiries regarding stocks and mutual funds.

It remains uncertain if users have the ability to request the chatbot to produce a chart or graph on a particular subject, or if AI Mode autonomously generates it based on its assessment of relevance. According to the example provided by the company, it autonomously generated an interactive chart when posed with a stock-related question. Another question that arises is whether the feature can be applied to topics beyond financial queries, or if it is currently restricted only to that area.

Google claims that the feature enables comparisons and analysis of data over designated time frames, subsequently presenting the information through an interactive graph along with a comprehensive explanation to assist users in understanding their queries.

As an illustrative example, the company mentioned that when a user prompts AI Mode to “compare the stock performance of blue chip CPG companies in 2024,” the foundational Gemini model employs reasoning and multimodal skills to produce an interactive chart rather than listing individual companies and their stock prices in textual or tabular format. Users may also pose additional questions, such as whether any of these companies provide dividends, and AI Mode will display that information as well.

According to a recent report, Google has started implementing Search Live, a feature akin to Gemini Live that enables users to experience AI Mode hands-free, for select users in the US.
