Get Ready for the Ultimate Reveal: IO Interactive Unveils 007 First Light in Upcoming Showcase

The long-awaited James Bond game from IO Interactive has finally received its official title after being known as Project 007 for several years. Titled 007 First Light, the game is slated for an official reveal later this week. Additionally, the studio plans to host its very own showcase on June 6, where it will unveil more about the James Bond game, alongside updates regarding the forthcoming action-adventure title MindsEye, Hitman, and other projects.

A Reveal of 007 First Light This Week

The Danish studio disclosed the game’s official name in a post on X this past Monday, encouraging fans to «earn the number.» The official website for 007 First Light offers more insights, reiterating that it presents an origin narrative where players must achieve 00 status as James Bond.

The website’s description states, “007 First Light is a fresh James Bond video game crafted by IO Interactive, featuring an entirely original Bond origin narrative. Players will immerse themselves in the role of the beloved secret agent to gain their 00 designation.”

In conjunction with this announcement, IO Interactive also revealed the inaugural IOI Showcase, during which they will fully introduce 007 First Light and provide updates on MindsEye and Hitman: World of Assassinations.

The showcase will be broadcast live on June 6 at 6 PM PDT (June 7 at 6:30 AM IST) via IOI’s Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok platforms, featuring developments, trailers, gameplay demonstrations, and some surprises, as stated by IO.

In October 2024, IO Interactive’s CEO and co-founder Hakan Abrak declared that the development of the James Bond game was progressing “extremely well,” with plans to reveal additional information soon. He indicated that Project 007 — now known as 007 First Light — would present a completely unique storyline featuring a different version of James Bond, without utilizing the likeness of any actors from the franchise. The executive expressed hope for the game to mark the beginning of a new trilogy.

“So it’s not simply adapting a movie into a game. It’s about creating an original narrative and, ideally, paving the way for a substantial trilogy in the future,” Abrak explained.

The reveal trailer for 007 First Light is expected to premiere during the IOI Showcase on June 6. The developer may also disclose a timeline for the game’s release. The James Bond game has been under development for some time, having been announced in 2020 for modern consoles; thus, it is likely to be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
