Gamova Discusses the Impact of International Exclusion on Russian Womens Volleyball Level

Two-time world champion and former Russian volleyball player Ekaterina Gamova addressed inquiries about the decline of Russian women’s volleyball following the national team’s victory over Serbia (3:2) at the Channel One Cup in Belgrade.

«It’s quite difficult to draw any conclusions from just one match. However, I can say that players who are competing abroad—like Arina Fedorovtseva, Markova, and Tatiana Kadotchikina (Tolok)—are consistently performing at an international level. They compete in top leagues and participate in European tournaments, which enables them to develop and maintain their skills. Therefore, I see a lot of potential. I believe we won’t be trailing behind when we return to the global stage,» Gamova’s comments were reported by the press service of the Russian Volleyball Federation (RVF).

It is important to note that since March 2022, the Russian women’s national team has only played matches against the Belarusian team due to their suspension from international competitions.
