Future Apple Watches to Embrace AI with Integrated Cameras Set for 2027 Release

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter, Apple is exploring the integration of cameras into future Apple Watch editions to enhance their capabilities, making them behave more like AI-driven wearables. Gurman mentions that the tech giant is “considering adding cameras to both its standard Series watches and Ultra variants,” with a target release date set for 2027. This strategy would enable the Apple Watch to support AI functionalities such as Visual Intelligence, which will deliver immediate insights based on what the user aims the camera at.

Gurman previously mentioned that Apple is in the process of creating AirPods featuring an integrated camera for similar functionalities, and he highlights that these are anticipated to be launched simultaneously with the Apple Watches equipped with cameras. The positioning of the camera is expected to differ across the various models. Gurman suggests that the Series watches might have the camera embedded within the display, while the Ultra model would likely place the camera on the edge of the device.
