First DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows Set for Potential September or October Release

According to insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is expected to launch Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Claws of Awaji in September this year. Henderson’s sources suggest that the release of the DLC could be postponed until October, depending on Ubisoft’s decisions and their overall release strategy.

This expansion will introduce players to an entirely new location—Awaji Island—where Naoe and Yasuké will encounter a new faction of bandits known as the Sanzoku Ippa and unravel the mystery of a long-lost treasure. Ubisoft claims that Claws of Awaji will offer players over ten hours of narrative content. The DLC will also feature new perks, abilities, and weapons, including a traditional bo staff for Naoe. It will be available at no cost for those who pre-order any version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, while others will need to purchase it separately, with the exact price yet to be announced.

Additionally, Henderson’s sources report that the upcoming cooperative mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, codenamed LEAGUE, is still in development and is expected to be released next year. It is likely that players will have the option to play as characters other than Naoe and Yasuké.

Regarding other Assassin’s Creed projects, including a new multiplayer game for 18 players titled Invictus and a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag codenamed Obsidian, it was confirmed that both titles are currently in development. Final release dates will be determined by Ubisoft’s new strategy, which has yet to be communicated to employees.

As a reminder, Ubisoft has promised regular free updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Planned changes include new quests, collaborations with other projects, and quality-of-life improvements such as additional parkour maneuvers, a «New Game+» mode with an increased level cap for characters, more difficulty settings for stealth and combat, as well as the ability to wear helmets and hoods during cutscenes.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. The game includes a text translation in Russian.
