Final Fantasy Franchise Surpasses 200 Million Copies Sold

Square Enix has recalculated its figures and announced that the total sales of the Final Fantasy series have exceeded 200 million copies. It’s worth noting that the franchise includes several dozen games, so such a remarkable number isn’t too surprising.

The last time Square Enix shared similar insights was in July 2023, when the total sales stood at 180 million copies. In the span of over a year and a half, titles from the series have been purchased more than 20 million times.

The success of the franchise was also bolstered by the collection of pixel remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games, which have sold over 5 million copies to date. These updated versions are available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms. Alongside the sales announcement, Square Enix released a patch for all six remasters.

Currently, the Square Enix team is working on the third installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake.
