Exciting News: Fallout Season 2 Set for December Release, Plus Early Renewal for Season 3

Amazon has announced the release date for the second season of Fallout and renewed the series for a third season. This announcement was made during their annual presentation, where they also unveiled two teaser trailers.

The second season of Fallout is set to premiere in December 2025, a pleasant surprise for many fans who initially anticipated a release no earlier than early 2026. Filming wrapped up last week. If the release date for the second season stays as planned, the post-production phase for Fallout might be relatively shorter compared to other series in the genre. For instance, the second season of The Last of Us concluded filming in August 2024, but it wasn’t released until April 13, 2025.

The storyline of the second season picks up right after the events of the first season finale, with Lucy (Ella Purnell), the Ghoul (Walton Goggins), and Maximus (Aaron Moten) crossing the Mojave wasteland on their way to New Vegas.

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, provided insights into the upcoming seasons.

In the first, shorter teaser, the premiere date for the second season was revealed, alongside glimpses of the Ghoul, Lucy, and a dog heading towards New Vegas. The second teaser is longer and features Cooper Howard, who complains about working for Vault-Tec before reluctantly participating in a commercial featuring various company products, including Nuka-Cola, sunscreen, and the Lucky 38 casino—an iconic location from Fallout: New Vegas.

The first season of Fallout premiered on April 10, 2024, and within the first two weeks attracted an impressive 65 million viewers. The series’ success has also positively impacted sales of the games, significantly boosting interest across the Fallout franchise.
