Ethereum Foundation Unveils Proactive Grant Program to Support Ecosystem Growth Translation: Ethereum Foundation Unveils Proactive Grant Program to Support Ecosystem Growth

The nonprofit organization Ethereum Foundation (EF) has unveiled an updated grant program featuring a «proactive approach» to supporting projects.

In August, the organization suspended the acceptance of funding applications under its previous initiative, known as the ESP. This decision was explained by the need to reassess priorities.

«The increasing volume of applications has drained our resources, limiting our ability to capitalize on strategic opportunities,» stated the foundation in its announcement regarding the program’s relaunch.

The revised ESP model aims to address this identified issue by shifting from a reactive to a proactive approach, ensuring that funding aligns with the ecosystem’s priority objectives. The program is structured around two channels: a «Wishlist» and «Requests for Proposals.»

The first list outlines the general areas where EF sees «significant gaps and opportunities for progress within the ecosystem.» The second details specific challenges and «invites applicants to propose targeted solutions.»

The ESP team has published initially formulated sets of focus areas for both lists.

«They encompass key domains such as cryptography, privacy, application layer, security, community development, and much more,» EF noted.

Regarding the funding amounts, the organization stated that the sum would be determined on a case-by-case basis. Applicants are encouraged to include estimated budget outlines in their requests.

Recall that in July, EF revealed its development plan for the next decade.
