Ethereum Foundation Allocates $32.6 Million in Grants for Q1 2025 to Boost Ecosystem Projects

In the first quarter of 2025, the Ethereum Foundation allocated a total of $32.6 million in grants to various ecosystem projects and initiatives.

As part of its Ecosystem Support Program, the foundation provides quarterly reports on these distributions.

The support during January to March was directed towards community and educational events, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), and consensus mechanisms.

Out of 101 grants, 36 were specifically aimed at community and educational initiatives. Recipients of this funding include creators of educational materials, conference organizers, boot camps, and hackathons such as ETHPrague and ETHiopia.

Sixteen projects primarily focus on enhancing the experience and tools available for developers.

Several startups are dedicated to improving the accessibility of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and language support libraries.

Additionally, 14 grants were awarded for projects in the field of cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs. Seven of these recipients are concentrating on execution levels, while another seven are focused on consensus mechanisms. Nine projects are engaged in protocol development, overall growth, and network support.

Thirteen projects were categorized as «other,» covering areas such as DeFi, dapps, stablecoin infrastructure, and business development.

It’s worth mentioning that on May 7, Ethereum activated the Pectra upgrade, marking the largest network update in terms of proposed changes.

Looking ahead, the next hard fork titled Fusaka is planned for the second half of the year (September-October).
