Escalating Airspace Violations: Russias MiG-31 Jets Intrude into Estonia Over Gulf of Finland

Three MiG-31 fighter jets from Russia breached Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland on Friday, according to officials from the Baltic nation.

This incident marks the fourth recorded Russian violation of Estonia’s airspace this year and follows a recent event in which Russian drones crossed into Poland, leading NATO to deploy fighter jets for their interception.

«Russia has infringed upon Estonia’s airspace four times this year, which is already intolerable. However, today’s violation is particularly audacious,» remarked Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on Friday.

The Estonian Defense Ministry also verified the airspace infringement.

«The growing frequency of Russia’s boundary testing and its increasing aggressiveness necessitate an immediate escalation of political and economic pressure,» Tsahkna stated.

Earlier this month, a Russian military helicopter also encroached upon Estonian airspace. Similar occurrences were reported in May and June.
