Dmitry Simashev Returns the Gagarin Cup Home to Kostroma

Former defender of Yaroslavl’s Lokomotiv, Dmitry Simashev, has brought the Gagarin Cup back to his hometown of Kostroma.

In a statement from the Yaroslavl club’s press service, it was noted that «Simashev presented the trophy to the young players of the Iskra club, where he played during his childhood. He also held a signing and photo session with fans.»

The 20-year-old Simashev has been part of the Lokomotiv system since 2020. Last season, he helped his team win the Gagarin Cup, participating in 77 games, including playoffs, where he scored one goal and provided six assists. After the season, Simashev signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL’s Utah Mammoths. He was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the first round as the sixth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
