DeepMind запускает автоматизированную лабораторию ИИ для революции в области новых материалов Translation: DeepMind launches automated AI laboratory to revolutionize the field of new materials.

Google DeepMind is set to establish its inaugural research laboratory focused on the discovery of new substances and compounds used in batteries and semiconductors.

Scheduled to open in the United Kingdom in 2026 as part of a collaboration between Google and the UK government, the company aims to integrate artificial intelligence into a broader range of scientific fields.

The agreement includes the adaptation of several AI models tailored for use by scientists, educators, and public officials.

DeepMind has described the new lab as the first «automated» facility utilizing robotics to conduct scientific experiments, minimizing human involvement.

In this lab, Google’s AI division will investigate materials that have the potential to enhance medical imaging, solar panels, and microchips.

The company will grant British researchers «priority access» to four scientific models, including tools for DNA analysis and weather forecasting.

«The discovery of new materials is one of science’s most critical challenges,» stated DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis.

The UK government emphasized that the company will support research in the field of nuclear fusion and develop tools based on the Gemini platform for scientists.

Additionally, DeepMind will collaborate with the British Institute for AI Safety, a government-established agency founded in 2023, to share its proprietary models and data for the testing and evaluation of AI systems.

It’s worth recalling that in April, Google DeepMind created a model for interpreting dolphin vocalizations.
