Deadly Ukrainian Drone Attack Hits Vehicle in Belgorod Region, Two Fatalities Reported

Two individuals lost their lives and three more sustained injuries when a Ukrainian drone targeted a vehicle in the Belgorod region of southwestern Russia, local officials reported on Tuesday.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, stated that the car, carrying five passengers, was on a road parallel to the northeastern Ukraine border near the Sumy region at the time of the attack.

“In a further act of terrorism by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two civilians have died and three others have been injured,” Gladkov shared on Telegram, also extending his sympathies to the families of the victims.

The three injured parties were admitted to the hospital with head injuries and shrapnel wounds but are reportedly in stable condition, he noted.

The assault occurred in the early hours of the morning, following an announcement from Russia’s Defense Ministry claiming that its air defense systems had destroyed or intercepted 91 Ukrainian drones across eight regions overnight, including Belgorod, annexed Crimea, and the Black Sea area.

Additionally, two drones were shot down in the Moscow region.

In a related incident, Ukraine’s emergency services reported that a 12-year-old girl was killed by a Russian drone strike in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, while a five-year-old girl was injured.

The Ukrainian Air Force indicated that Russia launched a total of 100 drones during the night, including 47 decoys, targeting the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kyiv regions, with 37 of the Russian drones being intercepted.
