Deadly Russian Drone Assaults Target Odesa Maternity Hospital Amid Ongoing Attacks on Kyiv

Early on Tuesday, Russian drone strikes targeted both Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa, resulting in one fatality and causing damage to a maternity hospital, according to Ukrainian officials.

Oleh Kiper, the regional governor, reported that a 59-year-old man lost his life, and at least four individuals sustained injuries when Russian drones hit residential areas in Odesa.

«The Russians targeted a maternity hospital, an emergency medical facility, and residential buildings,» Kiper communicated via Telegram, noting that the hospital was successfully evacuated beforehand.

In central Kyiv, an AFP reporter noted the sound of numerous explosions, as well as anti-aircraft fire and the droning of unmanned aerial vehicles.

«Remain in shelters! A significant assault on the capital is ongoing,» Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko cautioned on Telegram. Around 3 a.m. local time, he indicated that «a new wave of drones is approaching the capital.»

According to Klitschko, four individuals were injured in attacks that affected at least seven districts of Kyiv, with reports of buildings and vehicles ablaze.

Russia has persisted with its aerial campaign against Ukraine, while Kyiv has executed strikes deep within Russian territory. Recent direct peace discussions have failed to achieve any significant progress toward resolving the conflict, which is now entering its third year.

Aside from reaching an agreement on prisoner exchanges, negotiations have stagnated, and Russia has consistently dismissed requests for an unconditional ceasefire.

«Andrii Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office, stated: «Russia deceives daily about its commitment to peace while attacking civilians consistently. It is time to impose sanctions, to provide Ukraine with military support, and to demonstrate that democracy is powerful.»
