Dead Island 3 Set for Release in 2028: Early Development Stages Confirmed

In spring 2023, the beleaguered game Dead Island 2 finally emerged from its production nightmare and even received decent reviews. However, the franchise’s journey does not end here, as a full-fledged sequel is officially underway at Dambuster Studios.

The announcement of Dead Island 3 was made by the developers back in September, and release timelines have surfaced thanks to a recent financial report. According to the document, the game is slated for release in either the first or second fiscal quarter of 2028, which translates to the period from April to October.

Currently, the majority of the studio’s team is dedicated to this project. Meanwhile, the remaining staff members are focusing on ports of Dead Island 2 for Luna and Mac. Once this work concludes, the Dead Island 3 team will consist of 194 developers. It’s noted that certain aspects of the game, including the script, characters, world, and gameplay design, are already at early production stages.

There’s no set date for a full announcement regarding Dead Island 3, so all we can do is be patient and wait. Given the projected release date, the title may well launch alongside the next generation of consoles.
