Danish Fans Boo US Anthem at Home World Championship — 2025

Before the opening match of the group stage of the 2025 World Championship between Denmark and the USA, the Danish crowd booed the American national anthem, according to Expressen. The tournament commenced on Friday, May 9th. Matches in Group B, which includes the two teams, are being held in Herning, Denmark.

As reported, fans supporting the home team reacted with boos as the American hockey players took to the ice, as well as during the announcement of the U.S. players’ names and the playing of their anthem.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had expressed interest in incorporating Greenland, a territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, into the United States.
