CSKA Triumphs Over Krasnodar in Penalty Shootout Amidst Three Red Cards in RPL Cup Clash

The match of the Winline Winter Cup of the RPL between CSKA and FC Krasnodar has concluded. The teams faced off at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The main referee for the match was Inal Tanashhev from Nalchik. The regular time ended in a 2-2 tie, but the Muscovites triumphed in the penalty shootout, winning 5-4.

CSKA forward Luciano Gondo scored the opening goal with a header in the 11th minute. Shortly after, in the 37th minute, CSKA’s Danil Krugovoy doubled the team’s lead. Just a minute later, Krasnodar defender Zhubal was shown a red card. According to the tournament regulations, «the Bulls» were permitted to substitute the sent-off player, bringing Brazilian Diego Costa onto the field.

In the 54th minute, Krasnodar’s Moses Kobnan pulled one back, making the score 2-1. However, just three minutes later, CSKA defender Moises was sent off following a skirmish with Krasnodar midfielder Douglas Augusto. In the 65th minute, Stepan Sadchikov of the black-greens received his second yellow card. Then, in the 85th minute, forward Eldar Guseynov equalized for Krasnodar. In the penalty shootout, the CSKA players converted all five attempts successfully.

After the first round of matches, Zenit leads the Winline Winter Cup with three points. CSKA is in second place with two points, while Dynamo sits in fourth with no points. The matches for the second and third rounds of the Cup are scheduled for February 6 and 10.
