Crystal Dynamics Faces New Round of Layoffs Amid Ongoing Restructuring Efforts

The studio **Crystal Dynamics** is once again reducing its workforce. The company has confirmed that about 30 employees from various departments have been laid off. This marks at least the fourth round of job cuts in the last two years.

In a recent **statement**, the team clarified that they are reorganizing internal processes to streamline the development of the new **Tomb Raider** installment. The management assures that this restructuring aims to benefit not only the main franchise but also upcoming projects.

«Today, we made the tough yet necessary decision to reorganize the **Crystal Dynamics** studios and teams. As a result of this restructuring and our preparations for the next phase of development, we have parted ways with just under 30 employees from various departments and projects. **Crystal** sincerely thanks all those affected by these changes for their talent, hard work, and dedication that have significantly shaped our studio. We are committed to providing all possible support and resources during this transitional period.

«To our players: as the industry continues to evolve, we are faced with difficult choices to ensure the ongoing development of our flagship **Tomb Raider** and to position our studio for future projects.

«We appreciate the ongoing support from players, colleagues, and partners during this challenging time, and we eagerly await the moment we can unveil new projects from our team.»

The studio expressed its gratitude to the laid-off employees for their «talent, work, and dedication» and promised to offer support during the transition period.

Previously, **Crystal Dynamics** had experienced similar layoffs. In August, the studio announced job losses shortly after the cancellation of the reboot of **Perfect Dark**, which it was developing in collaboration with **Microsoft**. In March of this year, the company laid off an additional 17 employees, stating it needed to realign the team with current objectives. Additionally, in September 2023, the studio underwent another internal restructuring that also led to job cuts.

It’s worth recalling that in 2022, it was revealed that **Amazon** would publish the next **Tomb Raider** game. Despite the staffing losses, **Crystal Dynamics** continues its development efforts.
