Collaboration for Innovation: Basalt SPU, P7, and VK Tech Unite to Develop Software for Rosseti

The company «Basalt SPO,» developer of the Russian operating systems «Alt,» has entered into an agreement with P-7, VK Tech, and PJSC «Rosseti.» The companies will collaborate on developing compatible software products to be utilized within Rosseti’s import substitution program.

«The signing of this agreement naturally continues our collaboration with Rosseti and our fellow developers. The primary objective of Basalt SPO in this partnership is to achieve full compatibility of our solutions, which ultimately adds value for end users like Rosseti,» stated Sergey Trandin, CEO of Basalt SPO.

It has been reported that Rosseti will communicate its plans for transitioning to domestic software, organize testing of solutions within its infrastructure, and ensure the involvement of its specialists in the collaborative efforts. In turn, P-7, Basalt SPO, and VK Tech are committed to sharing their implementation experiences relevant to Rosseti, ensuring the compatibility of developed solutions, participating in joint testing, providing experts for working groups, engaging in educational projects, and responding promptly to inquiries.

«We continually enhance our products, and testing our software on the infrastructure of one of the largest energy companies presents a great opportunity to further improve their efficiency. We also hope that utilizing VK WorkSpace services will help boost our colleagues’ work processes and contribute significantly to accelerating the import substitution process,» noted Pavel Gontarev, CEO of VK Tech.

In 2023, Basalt SPO delivered over 100,000 licenses of the Alt operating systems to the Rosseti Group, including more than 97,000 licenses for Alt Workstation and approximately 3,000 licenses for Alt Server.

Earlier this month, Konstantin Kravchenko, Deputy General Director for Digital Transformation at Rosseti, stated that the state electric grid holding «FSK-Rosseti» plans to utilize unlicensed foreign software until it is completely «worn out» due to the financial costs of import substitution. He emphasized that Rosseti operates under fixed tariffs, which they cannot change, leading to a lack of funds for replacing software.
