CIA Deputy Director Claims Bitcoin as a Strategic Tool in the US-China Rivalry

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is leveraging Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as tools in its efforts against China and other geopolitical adversaries of the United States. This was stated by Deputy Director Michael Ellis during a podcast with Anthony Pompliano, the founder of Pomp Investments.

According to Ellis, digital assets have become a focal point for technological competition between the U.S. and China, leading the agency to utilize them as «another tool in its arsenal.»

He emphasized that Bitcoin operates not as an anonymous system but as a private one. The CIA is already collaborating with law enforcement agencies to track «illegal cryptocurrency transactions conducted by criminals,» he added.

The agency representative highlighted that blockchain technologies provide the intelligence community with new opportunities for analyzing adversarial actions.

«Bitcoin is here to stay. More and more institutions are accepting it, and this trend will only continue to grow,» he remarked.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that in early March, President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve based on assets confiscated by the Treasury Department.
