Chesnokov: Andreeva Struggles on Grass Compared to Other Surfaces

The former world number nine in singles, **[Andrei Chesnokov](https://example.com/tags/32059-andrej-chesnokov/)**, shared his thoughts on the performance of Russian player **Mirra Andreyeva** on grass courts.

Today, July 3, 2025, the 18-year-old Andreyeva defeated Italian player Lucia Bronzetti (ranked 63rd in the world) in the second round of Wimbledon 2025, with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

«Mirra isn’t at her best on grass compared to other surfaces. To me, grass remains more of a mystery for her than other types of courts. However, she is coached by Conchita Martinez, who once won **[Wimbledon](https://example.com/tags/9717-uimbldon/)**. It wouldn’t be fair to label her solely as a grass court player, as her strength lies in her baseline game.

With each season, Mirra gains more experience. Perhaps she will improve her grass court game this time around. Last season, she struggled on grass, losing every match. But now, she has a more positive record. Grass may not be her ideal surface, but I hope she finds her rhythm on it,» Chesnokov remarked in an interview with **Championship** correspondent Yegor Kabak.

In the third round of the 2025 Wimbledon tournament, **[Mirra Andreyeva](https://example.com/tags/34175-mirra-andreeva/)** will face the winner of the match between Hailey Baptiste (USA) and Victoria Mboko (Canada, LL).
