ChatGPT Health: новый подход OpenAI к цифровым медицинским консультациям Translation: ChatGPT Health: OpenAIs New Approach to Digital Medical Consultations

OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Health, a dedicated section for health-related consultations.

This solution was developed with the involvement of «hundreds of doctors» in response to substantial audience interest: according to the company, over 230 million people weekly inquire about their health through the chatbot.

The new feature operates in a secure environment. Conversations within ChatGPT Health are separated from standard dialogues, safeguarded through specialized encryption, and do not intermingle with the main model’s memory. This ensures that medical data does not influence the context of regular discussions.

Interactions take place in a familiar chat format, yet the model considers the linked information. Users can ask questions like «How is my cholesterol changing?» or «Summarize my latest test results,» upload files and images, and utilize voice mode.

Users can also input personalized guidelines in this section; for instance, they may prioritize certain issues or exclude unwanted topics.

ChatGPT does not provide diagnoses or treatment plans. The neural network’s objective is to assist users in interpreting information, analyzing metrics from apps like Apple Health or MyFitnessPal, and preparing for doctor visits.

To access the most sensitive data—such as electronic medical records—OpenAI has partnered with the b.well platform, which complies with industry standards of HIPAA. All connections occur only with user consent, and access can be revoked at any time.

The development of ChatGPT Health was carried out in collaboration with the medical community, with over 260 physicians from 60 countries participating in its creation and evaluation over the past two years.

To ensure quality control, OpenAI established a system called HealthBench. This system assesses AI responses not on abstract accuracy but against clinical criteria such as safety, clarity, appropriateness of recommending a specialist, and context consideration.

In the coming weeks, access to this section will be opened to all users of the web version and iOS. At the time of writing, the service is operational in testing mode for a limited group in the United States.

It is worth noting that in late December, OpenAI added the ability for personalized settings in ChatGPT and launched an app store within the chatbot.
