Carlos Sainz Reveals Reasons Behind His Retirement at the Australian Grand Prix

The Williams driver, Spanish racer **Carlos Sainz**, explained the reasons behind his exit from the Australian Grand Prix and confirmed that he assisted the team with strategy work from the pit wall afterwards.

«First of all, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Alex and the entire team. He did an amazing job and has started the season well. We analyzed the data and quickly figured out what went wrong, which allows me to approach the situation with more calm. Without getting into too many details, it was related to a gear shift during the safety car period. Of course, I am disappointed and empathize with everyone on the team. During the rest of the race, I tried to support the team through the radio. So, I’m glad I could contribute in that way. Fortunately, the next race weekend is in China. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel,» Sainz’s words were reported by the team’s press service.

In the race, the victory went to Lando Norris of McLaren. Second place was secured by reigning world champion Max Verstappen from Red Bull. The podium was completed by George Russell from Mercedes.
