Capcom Reportedly Developing Resident Evil 0 Remake with New Story Elements and Casting Updates

A couple of years ago, Capcom released a highly successful remake of  Resident Evil 4, and since then, fans have been curious about which classic installment in the series would receive the next update. It seems that the team at MP1st may have the answer, as their sources have indicated that a remake of  Resident Evil 0 is currently in development.

It’s worth noting that representatives from MP1st have previously provided accurate insider information about other titles. According to the latest details, Capcom plans to release the remake of Resident Evil 0 no earlier than 2028. The project is currently underway under the codename Chamber, referencing the last name of the main character, Rebecca Chambers.

MP1st’s sources also revealed some details regarding the cast and storyline. For instance, the second protagonist (Billy Cohen) is reportedly set to be portrayed by Jon McLaren, who gamers might recognize from his role as Star-Lord in  Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy developed by Eidos-Montreal. The motion capture for the actors is being handled by Beyond Capture Studios, which previously collaborated with Capcom on projects like  Street Fighter 6 and the remake of Resident Evil 4.

As for the plot, the core story will remain intact, though it is expected to undergo some alterations and expansions similar to past remakes in the series. For example, there will be a new subplot involving a train conductor at the beginning of the game. In the original, this character was merely mentioned, but in the remake, he will have a more substantial role.

The aforementioned conductor requests Rebecca’s assistance in stopping the train, only to betray her later by locking her in a car filled with zombies. He reappears later in the game, where Rebecca finds him speaking with another “mysterious character” who seems to be aware of the overall situation and plays a significant role in the plot.

Additionally, MP1st has confirmed information from a less reputable insider known as Dusk Golem, who previously claimed that Capcom is also working on a remake of  Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is scheduled for release in 2027.

Whether these reports are accurate will be revealed in time. In the meantime, gamers can bridge the wait with the upcoming ninth installment.  Resident Evil Requiem will launch on February 27 of next year for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, complete with full Russian localization.
