Bystrov: My Role in Krasnodars Championship Journey

Former midfielder of FC Krasnodar, Vladimir Bystrov, expressed his belief that he played a role in the team’s championship victory this season. Bystrov revealed that he once persuaded the parents of the Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan to sign a new contract with the club.

“Everyone kept saying that it was time for Spertsyan to leave. I insisted that it wasn’t necessary. First, he should become a champion with Krasnodar, and then he could think about other options. I had a conversation with Spertsyan and his father about whether he should leave or if he should sign a new contract. So, in a way, I contributed to Krasnodar’s championship. Now Spertsyan can do whatever he wants with a clear conscience. There will be other players like him coming up after him. Galitsky brought him to Krasnodar under his own responsibility and initially kept him in the second team. The scouts back then claimed there were no promising players at that age. When Kerzhakov and I joined the 2001 national team, we were also told that there were no good footballers. Now, ten players from that team are playing in the RPL,” Bystrov shared during an episode of the YouTube channel «Oh, Home Football!»
