Baba Is You Unveils Major Update After Seven Years, Introducing New Words and Modding Tools

The beloved puzzle game Baba Is You, known for its innovative rule-altering mechanics, continues to delight fans. Nearly seven years after its initial release, it has received a significant update featuring new words, objects, and tools for modding.

This update primarily targets modders. Developers have introduced five new words for creating custom levels: become, facedby, hold, happy, and angry. These words alter the gameplay rules on specific levels and facilitate surprising combinations. For instance, the phrase «Baba is Happy» can make the character joyful, which directly impacts puzzle solutions.

In addition to the new words, fresh objects have been added, including a fox, a blob, a hot dog, a cactus, among others. All these elements are integrated into the level editor that was released in 2021 and works across all platforms. During this time, clever gamers have created numerous custom levels, with the best of them showcased in a special section of the main menu. Given the complexity of puzzles in the original game, one can only imagine the wild intricacies fans have devised.

The patch also includes numerous bug fixes and minor adjustments that improve the overall gaming experience, making it smoother and more stable. However, no new levels have been introduced; the primary focus of the update is on enhancing creative tools and opportunities.

In Baba Is You, players can embody Baba, a fox, a cactus, and many other entities on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. The game does not feature a Russian language translation. Until January 5th, the project is available at a 30% discount on the Valve platform.
