Avowed PS5 Launch Set for February 17 with Anniversary Update Features Revealed

In December 2025, Obsidian Entertainment announced a significant update for Avowed in honor of the game’s first anniversary, which would be postponed until February. The release has now been scheduled for February 17, coinciding with the launch of the PlayStation 5 version.

This update will introduce several new features to Avowed, including a «New Game +» mode, a photo mode, a new type of weapon, and the option to play as a greater variety of races (such as dwarves, orlan, and aumaua), among others. The expansion will be available across all platforms.

As explained by lead character artist Dmitri Berman, the inclusion of additional races in the character creation tool was a topic of discussion during the early stages of Avowed‘s development. However, the team ultimately decided to abandon this idea due to the complexities involved in implementing it, particularly concerning the parkour system, combat mechanics, various weapons, and more.
