Apple Unveils Compelling AI Innovations: A Closer Look at Visual Intelligence and Enhanced Image Tools

Apple released a new video on Saturday, providing an interactive overview of the various Apple Intelligence tools that are currently accessible on devices equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This latest video follow closely on the heels of a prior release by the Cupertino-based technology company, which highlighted applications of its AI-enhanced image cleaning tool. The company initially unveiled its AI functionalities in December 2024, coinciding with the launch of the iOS 18.2 update; however, the anticipated enhancements for Siri and several other advanced Apple Intelligence tools remain unavailable.

Apple Highlights Available AI Tools

The fresh video was uploaded to the company’s official YouTube channel, along with other social media outlets. Just under six minutes in length, it offers viewers a brief tour of various AI tools, among them the newly introduced Visual Intelligence, detailing how these tools may benefit users.

Apple characterizes the video as a guided exploration of its AI offerings, likely targeting potential users who have not yet been persuaded to upgrade to a device compatible with Apple Intelligence.

The video showcases the new Clean Up tool with its object removal functionality, custom emoji creation through Genmoji, the Mail Summarise feature, the advantages of its Writing Tools, applications of Visual Intelligence, and how the integration with ChatGPT opens new avenues for utilizing AI tools.

Furthermore, the tech giant notes that these AI capabilities can be accessed through compatible iPhones, iPads, or Mac devices. Devices compatible with these features include the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro models, the iPad mini equipped with the A17 Pro chip, as well as iPad and Mac models with the M1 chip and later versions.

While the video serves as a helpful resource for those who have recently acquired an Apple Intelligence-compatible device or have just been introduced to the functionalities in their region, many may already be familiar with these features given the company’s vigorous promotion of them since the iPhone 16 series launch event.

Nonetheless, this latest marketing push may be an attempt to address the lukewarm reception from users and the slow uptake rates. A tech trade-in service SellCell recently published findings from a survey conducted in December 2024 that explored consumer perspectives on the significance of AI features in smartphones.

The survey revealed that 47.6 percent of iPhone users were highly interested in mobile AI; however, a substantial 73 percent of Apple Intelligence users felt that the new features were either “not very valuable” or offered “little to no value” to their experience.

It is important to note that four months have passed since the survey was conducted, and Apple has introduced new features such as Visual Intelligence, which may have positively influenced user perceptions regarding these tools on Apple devices.
