Apple Pay Now Enables Game Purchases on PS5

PlayStation 5 users now have the option to purchase games and applications from the PlayStation Store using Apple Pay. This capability was previously limited to the browser and Sony’s mobile app, but has now been added to the console alongside other payment methods, such as saved bank cards and PayPal.

When placing an order, you can select the Apple Pay payment option. It utilizes a QR code payment system that Apple introduced in iOS 18 last summer. Additionally, this feature allows purchases through third-party browsers like Google Chrome.

PlayStation’s support page for using Apple Pay provides details on the regions where this option is available.

To complete a game purchase on PS5, you simply select Apple Pay, scan the QR code displayed on the screen with your iPhone, and then iOS will display the checkout screen where you can confirm the transaction. Users with an Apple Card can earn 2% cash back on their game purchases.

According to 9to5Mac, there are indications that Apple Pay may soon be available on PlayStation 4 with an upcoming software update for the console.
