Apple Launches iOS 18.4 Beta 3: Key Fixes for Siri, Notifications, and Apple Intelligence Issues

Apple announced the release of the iOS 18.4 Beta 3 update on Monday, targeting developers and beta testers of the iPhone. This update differs from the previous developer beta 2, which introduced Visual Intelligence enhancements specifically for the iPhone 15 Pro and other features. The newly released version, however, is regarded as a minor enhancement focused on rectifying bugs and mitigating security risks. It also addresses concerns found in earlier releases related to Apple Intelligence, Notifications, Siri, Wi-Fi Calling, Writing Tools, and several other areas.

iOS 18.4 Beta 3 Update: What’s New

The iOS 18.4 Beta 3 update builds on the improvements made by Apple in the developer beta 2 iteration. According to Apple’s changelog, it corrects three concerns surrounding Apple Intelligence — the company’s AI framework. One particular issue involved requiring Siri to be enabled for non-English (US) languages. Users had also reported missing Apple Intelligence functionalities or encountering a Downloading support… notification, while another problem necessitated a device restart to operate correctly. The latest update from Apple resolves these issues.

A fix for Notifications is also included, which eliminates any flickering or temporary collapse. Additionally, some Siri suggestions failed to execute correctly in languages other than English, a problem that has been addressed as well.

According to Apple, US cellular users were experiencing difficulties accessing Wi-Fi calling in the iOS 18.4 beta 2, which has been resolved in the iOS 18.4 Beta 3 update. This version also rectifies an error message that appeared when selecting the Replace option after creating a list, key point, table, or summary within the Writing Tools pop-up.

There are also several new features for developers. The tech giant from Cupertino mentions that apps can now leverage Nearby Interaction in the background for Ultra Wideband ranging. Additionally, new StoreKit APIs supporting the Advanced Commerce API for in-app purchases have been rolled out. With the new purchase option API introductoryOfferEligibility(compactJWS:), developers can determine whether users can redeem an introductory offer during a purchase.

In conjunction with iOS 18.4 Beta 3, Apple has also unveiled the third developer beta updates for iPadOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, and watchOS 11.4.
