Amazons Humanoid Robots Set to Replace Couriers in Package Delivery Trials

Amazon is developing artificial intelligence software that will enable humanoid robots to deliver packages using electric vans from Rivian. Real-world testing is set to take place at a new facility, according to sources cited by The Information.

The publication has learned that the company is nearing completion of a covered «humanoid park» roughly the size of a coffee shop at one of its offices in San Francisco. It is expected that the robots will «board the vans and deliver packages.»

This report comes alongside Amazon’s launch of a new team focused on developing agent technologies that control androids operating in distribution and logistics centers.

«The development of our Agentic AI system represents a fundamental shift in robotics,» the company stated, as referenced by the source.

The retail giant claims that instead of rigid specialized bots, it is creating systems that «can hear, understand, and respond to commands in natural language, transforming warehouse robots into flexible, multifunctional assistants.»

Various humanoids will be tested at the new center for package delivery, including a $16,000 device from the Chinese company Unitree.

Additionally, in May, Amazon unveiled a robot named Vulcan capable of tactile sensation.
