Amazon Backs AI Animation Platform Showrunner, Aiming to Revolutionize the Industry

The publication Variety reported that Amazon has invested in Showrunner, a service that enables the creation of animated series using artificial intelligence. The launch of this new platform is expected to occur shortly.

The amount of the investment has not yet been disclosed. Fable Studio, the company behind the service, has been actively testing the platform for several months. With Showrunner, users will have the ability to create not only individual scenes but also full episodes of animated shows. According to Fable Studio’s CEO Edward Saatchi, generating episodes will require just a few words or a photo.

The platform’s creators are currently in discussions with Disney and other Hollywood studios to secure licenses for their projects for use on the new service. The developers refer to the project as the «Netflix of AI.» At launch, two animated series will be available to users: Everything Is Fine, a show about a couple trapped in another world, and Exit Valley, a comedic series reminiscent of Family Guy.
