AI Innovations at Wimbledon 2025: IBM and AELTC Enhance Fan Engagement with Interactive Features

IBM and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) are harnessing artificial intelligence to enhance fan engagement at Wimbledon 2025. The tennis competition is introducing a range of AI-driven features and services for fans on its website and the Wimbledon.com app. IBM and AELTC have been collaborating for 36 years.

For Wimbledon spectators, the Match Chat has been launched—a dynamic AI assistant that addresses fan inquiries during live singles matches. An advanced tool called Likelihood to Win provides fans with real-time, percentage-based predictions of match outcomes that evolve throughout the game.

Match Chat is developed using watsonx Orchestrate technologies, incorporating a set of AI agents and large language models, including IBM Granite, which have been trained in journalistic styles and tennis terminology.

Fans using Match Chat will have access to a variety of pre-crafted prompts or can submit their own questions, with responses generated almost instantaneously. IBM assures that this AI assistant will exclusively focus on tennis-related topics.

Likelihood to Win formulates its predictions by analyzing player statistics, expert opinions, and match dynamics through AI capabilities.

Wimbledon 2025 is set to take place from June 30 to July 13, 2025. The tournament’s app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
