AgriFORCE Launches Bitcoin Mining Using Associated Gas in Alberta

The Canadian agribusiness firm AgriFORCE has launched its first facility for cryptocurrency mining in Alberta, utilizing associated gas as its energy source.

This facility is situated in the town of Berwyn and has an initial deployment capacity of 425 kW. It is equipped with 120 Bitmain S21 ASIC miners, boasting a combined hash rate exceeding 32 PH/s. In the second phase, the company plans to increase the capacity by an additional 200 kW.

Additionally, AgriFORCE has entered into an agreement with BlueFlare to introduce an extra 1.3 MW of capacity across two new sites in the same province. This infrastructure will be utilized for mining, AI computations, and other applications.

«We’re not waiting for permits or grid upgrades — we turn gas into computations in weeks, not years,» stated AgriFORCE CEO Jolie Kahn.

The company aims to boost its hash rate to 0.5 EH/s by the end of 2025, with a target of reaching 1 EH/s in the first quarter of 2026.

So far, AgriFORCE has mined 7 BTC, valued at around $735,000, at its facilities in Alberta and Ohio.

As part of its strategy, the company may retain up to half of its mined coins in reserve, with the remainder allocated for operational expansion. It also has the option to use up to 50% of its raised capital for the direct purchase of Bitcoin.

To recall, in May 2024, the American miner Genesis Digital Assets opened a data center in Argentina to mine Bitcoin using energy derived from flared gas.
