Valves SteamOS Update Boosts Compatibility, Officially Certifies Lenovo Legion Go S

The company Valve has released a stable version of SteamOS 3.7.8, which enhances the functionality of the Steam Deck and broadens support for third-party portable gaming devices powered by AMD chips.

This update includes several enhancements for the Linux platform, featuring a new Arch Linux base and an upgrade to Linux kernel 6.11. These changes improve device compatibility, leading to a rise in the number of supported portable PCs utilizing AMD processors.

In the update notes, Valve cautions that SteamOS will still not be compatible with all devices; however, it specifically mentions the ROG Ally and the original Lenovo Legion Go as two «portables» that can benefit from the 3.7.8 upgrade.

A significant highlight is the official certification of the Lenovo Legion Go S for SteamOS, marking it as the first device aside from the Steam Deck to receive such recognition.

Additionally, in the SteamOS 3.7.8 update, Valve announced that the Lenovo Legion Go S, based on SteamOS, will become available for purchase starting May 25.
