First Part of Russians vs Lizards Sells 725,000 Copies in Just 1.5 Years

The studio The Bratans has announced that the sales of the first part of the game «Rusy vs. Lizard» have reached 725,000 copies. This information was shared during an interview with streamer Welovegames, marking the achievement over a year and a half since the game’s release.

The previous report from the studio was published in October 2024, indicating that from September 2023, 679,420 copies had been sold, with 7,000 of those on VK Play and the rest on Steam.

Currently, the developers have not provided a breakdown of sales across different platforms. The Bratans stated that China ranks among the top five markets for sales, occupying the 4th or 5th position, with approximately 2,000 copies purchased by Chinese players. The remaining sales were concentrated in Russian-speaking countries.

Sales figures for the sequel «Rusy vs. Lizard 2» have not been disclosed yet. Representatives from The Bratans mentioned that the launch was weaker than that of the first installment, which they anticipated. However, they noted that the game had a solid beginning and could recover its development costs within one to two weeks post-launch.

Game designer Daniil Kosachev pointed out that replicating the success of the first game won’t be straightforward. He emphasized the need to produce a higher quality and more playable product, rather than attempting to recreate the same viral effect. According to him, such a strategy tends to work only once.

The studio has not announced any specific plans for a third installment. The developers mentioned that they might revisit the series if the sequel becomes popular; otherwise, they will focus on a different project.

«Rusy vs. Lizard 2» was released on March 27, 2025, and is available on PC via Steam and VK Play. It is a cooperative action slasher featuring four characters, each with distinct fighting styles and unique abilities. The game can be played solo or with up to four players.
