Ukrainian Drone Attack injures 5 in Moscow Suburb amidst Nightly Barrage of Drones across Russia

A sudden wave of Ukrainian drones targeted various regions in Russia overnight, resulting in injuries to at least five individuals, including a child, after one drone crashed into an apartment building just outside Moscow, according to regional officials on Friday.

One of the drones struck the 14th floor of a high-rise in Krasnogorsk, located northwest of the capital, as reported by Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Four adults suffered injuries, including head trauma, fractures, and shrapnel wounds, while a young boy received relatively minor injuries.

Images posted on Vorobyov’s Telegram channel revealed the damaged apartment’s interior, showcasing collapsed walls and significant structural harm.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that their air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 111 Ukrainian drones across 13 regions during the night, including one in the Moscow area. This marks the second consecutive night that more than 100 Ukrainian drones were launched at targets within Russia.

Local authorities noted that the attacks also resulted in power outages and fires in the mining town of Novoshakhtinsk, located in the Rostov region of southern Russia, where the Defense Ministry reported the downing of 34 Ukrainian drones.

In the Belgorod region, officials reported 21 residents injured in the past day, with two in critical condition. Both Belgorod and Rostov regions are situated near the Ukrainian border.

Officials from Bryansk, Kaluga, Tula, Tver, and other areas indicated that emergency services were active at the sites of impact and reported no casualties.

Airports in southern Russia, including Volgograd, Gelendzhik, and Krasnodar, temporarily halted operations through the night.

By Friday morning, Kaluga airport continued to enforce restrictions, while Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in Moscow also briefly ceased operations.

Later on Friday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that three additional drones were intercepted as they approached the capital.

The Defense Ministry reported an extra 25 Ukrainian drones were shot down during the morning, primarily over the Bryansk and Tula regions.
