Tarasova Questions Chances of Fournier-Baudry and Cizeron at Milan Olympics

The esteemed figure skating coach of the USSR, **Tatiana Tarasova**, expressed her belief that the chances of French ice dancers **Laurence Fournier-Bodry** and **Guillaume Cizeron** winning Olympic gold at the Games in Italy in February 2026 are slim, as the pair need to improve one of their routines. However, she acknowledged that the athletes’ technical skills are commendable.

«I don’t think they will win the Olympics. It’s important to pay attention to their competitors. I must highlight that their free dance was a divine gift to all of us. No one has skated like that, no one is skating like that, and no one will skate like that in the near future. Everything they performed was unique; only they can achieve such feats. Some individual elements might be replicated by others, but the whole package…

Perhaps they will show improvement before the Olympics. Their original dance wasn’t as innovative as their free dance. They need to make some changes to it, and they are capable of doing so. Their technical excellence is unquestionable, as is their unique artistry,» Tarasova stated, as reported by «VseProSport.»

Previously, Fournier-Bodry and Cizeron won the first stage of the ISU Grand Prix in figure skating.

The pair teamed up in 2025. Prior to this, Cizeron competed alongside Gabriela Papadakis, with whom he won the Olympic Games in Beijing (2022). In December 2024, Papadakis and Cizeron announced their retirement from competitive skating, but Cizeron later decided to continue his career.
