Reevaluation Urged on Ban of Maccabi Fans for Europa League Clash with Aston Villa

The police and crime commissioner for the West Midlands, Simon Foster, has urged an immediate reassessment of the decision to bar fans of the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv from attending the Europa League match against Aston Villa in Birmingham this November, according to The Athletic.

Foster has called for a special meeting of Birmingham’s safety advisory group and the West Midlands police to evaluate whether the decision is appropriate, necessary, justified, and reasonable, as well as to explore possible alternatives.

Previously, the Birmingham club had prohibited fans from the Israeli team from attending the international tournament due to concerns about the safety of spectators and local residents.
