Medvedev Shares Insights on Collaborating with New Coaches: Everything is Functioning Well

Russian tennis player **Daniil Medvedev**, who defeated Australian Adam Walton in the second round of the ATP-250 tournament in Almaty, shared insights about collaborating with his new coaches.

Since autumn 2025, Medvedev has been working with **Thomas Johansson** and **Rohan Goetzke**.

**»This is Rohan’s first tournament where he is physically present with you. Can you tell us about your connection?»**
— Honestly, it’s quite challenging here, as the preparation has been a bit rushed for several reasons. This is his first ATP tournament with someone in a long time. He understands that the training hasn’t been typical for us, especially after my long flight from Shanghai and the time zone changes. Everything has been a bit chaotic. It’s tough to assess right now; everything seems to be working well with Thomas and Rohan, but only time will tell.

**»Did you scare them?»**
— No. Those you work with see you both on and off the court. If I acted on the court the same way I do in real life, I doubt many people would want to work with me. Both Thomas and Rohan would probably say “no,” because everyone deserves to be compensated for their work, but money isn’t everything. Since I only behave that way on the court, while I’m actually a cool, fun, and friendly guy in everyday life, they understand that. They try to discuss with me after matches the moments where I might have overreacted, as it can interfere with my tennis, and also the moments where it’s important to maintain that intensity, — Medvedev explained in an interview with «BOL’SHE!».
