Medvedev Issues Stark Warning to Trump: Tomahawk Missile Supply to Ukraine May Lead to Severe Consequences

On Monday, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump that sending Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine could have dire consequences for him.

Medvedev, who held the presidency in Russia from 2008 to 2012, implied that a nuclear response could be on the table if Ukraine obtains and launches these long-range missiles at Russian locations.

“The provision of such missiles might lead to severe repercussions for all involved, particularly for Trump,” Medvedev stated in a Telegram message following Trump’s reiterated threat to supply the missiles to Ukraine unless Russia agrees to cease hostilities.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later supported Medvedev’s comments, asserting that supplying these arms to Ukraine could escalate tensions, as U.S. personnel would likely need to assist Ukraine in targeting operations within Russia.

“Anyone with even a fundamental grasp of the situation realizes that American specialists would play a role in managing these missiles,” Peskov told journalists.

On Sunday, Trump expressed a willingness to consider sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if Russia persisted in its aggression, indicating that he would personally caution Russian President Vladimir Putin if he proceeded with the arms transfer.

“Tomahawks represent a significant escalation of aggression,” he remarked to the press while onboard Air Force One.

Trump mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had requested the long-range missiles during a recent conversation focused on arms supplies.

Last week, Putin warned that Russia would bolster its air defense capabilities if the U.S. went ahead with plans to supply Tomahawks to Ukraine. He also criticized Zelensky, labeling him a “show-off” for his threats to employ the weapons against targets in Russia.
